Volunteers and Timetabling

Volunteers Needed

Did you know that Ashburton Pool relies on volunteers? Without these, we would not be able to provide the amazing facilities that we do. We have been running a little thin on the ground over the last few years and we have big plans for the future, so we would love to welcome some more volunteers to help as little or as much as they are able to. We have lots of roles to fill:

  • Volunteer Days: We have pool preperation days coming up where we clean, paint and prep the pool and grounds ready for opening. No experience or skills necessary but if you do have gardening, painting or pressure washing skills, it would be very good to know. Dates of these are 19th April, 26th April, 27th April and 11th May from 10am to 3pm. There will even be some nibbles and lots of tea and coffee.

  • Seasonal Cafe or Reception Volunteers: Fancy giving a few hours to work in the poolside cafe or support the lifeguards with checking people in? We would love to welcome you.

  • Environmental Committee: Are you passionate about the environment? We spent alot of the off-season working on an environmental audit (we will share the results very soon) and we want to continue to improve our environmental credentials.

  • Events Committee: Do you have ideas for events you would like to see at the pool? Happy to help us set up for events? We would love to hear from you.

  • Improvements Committee: We need a few volunteers who will help us to improve the site and our offering to the community.

  • Fundraising Committee: We rely on our income and donations to stay afloat. We need some volunteers who would like to explore fundraising avenues, such as selling advertising spaces, events and anything else that could help.

If any of these appeal to you or you would like to find out more, please pop Cat, the manager, an email at manager@ashburtonpool.com or complete the online form here.

Swim Timetable

We are working hard on the timetable for the opening of the season. It is a delicate balance between costs, variety and regulations around lifeguard ratios. Although we can't promise anything, we would love to hear any ideas you have for successful sessions (bear in mind we need around 16 people per sessions to cover costs) or timings for current sessions. We would be particularly interested to know if there is a need for earlier lane swims before work or whether the ladies lane swim would be as sucessful if it was on a different day. This is your opportunity to let us know what you want and we can do our best to faciliate it.

Please email manager@ashburtonpool.com with any ideas you have.
