Frequently Asked Questions

Booking

  • We have Class Passes which are reductions for bulk ticket purchases as well as a “pay what you can” policy with three ticket price options.

They are purchased on the booking site and are applied by the booker at checkout, so a family of four could use four of their 25 tickets in one swim etc.

  • Unfortunately we are unable to offer transfers or refunds.

  • Yes you do need to pay for 5 year olds.

  • You can book two consecutive sessions (back to back) but you will need to purchase a garden session also. This is because you will be asked to exit the pool during the changeover time to allow for cleaning. The Lifeguards may also need to take a mandatory break between sessions.

  • The maximum number is 40 people, this includes swimmers and non swimmers. With enough warning we can arrange a third lifeguard to increase the capacity to 60 swimmers.

  • We will only close the pool when the weather is unsafe to swim. In that event we will offer transfers or refunds. In the event of the pool needing to close, we will contact you by email or phone.

  • You can book your session directly on the bookings site but if you have any questions please contact events@ashburtonpool.com  who will be happy to help.

  • Yes! We offer private hire for £150 for 2hrs. You have full use of the pool, garden and kitchen area (there are toilets but the changing rooms are closed this year) and there will be two lifeguards to keep you safe. The maximum number of people is 40 which includes non-swimmers.

Private hire is available through out the week and weekend. Please look at the timetable on the booking page for more details. If you’d like to hire the pool at another time, please email events@ashburtonpool.com and we’ll do our best to help.

  • Yes! If you’d like to book the pool for a regular slot (for swimming lessons, a group of friends, a work health kick or any other reason), we’d love to speak to you and for more than 4 sessions we may be able to offer a discount. Please email events@ashburtonpool.com and we’ll do our best to help.

Visiting the Pool

  • You can watch your child swim while they are swimming and you don’t need a ticket.

  • A responsible adult 16+ may bring 2 children under the age of 8 into the pool, with any under 4s wearing an attached buoyancy aid. The adult must be in the water with the children at all times. Where under 4s are not wearing an attached buoyancy aid, the ratio is 1:1 because the shallow end is 0.7metres deep.

  • Our changing rooms and toilets will be open again. The ladies has even had a bit of a facelift (don’t worry boys - its next on our list)!

  • Yes. We have a small cafe on site, run by volunteers.

  • You are very welcome to bring a picnic, but there is a cafe onsite which helps support the pool. Please no glass or alcoholic beverages.

Swimming Sessions

  • The minimum age is 12 years and the child will need to be a competent swimmer.

  • The pool is divided lengthwise with a rope.

  • This year we are planning to run weekly lessons on a Tues, Weds and Thurs evening and intensive lessons over the summer. Check out our eventspage for more details

  • Yes! Every full moon, we will be doing swims. The first happens to be on the summer solstice, so will be combined into our summer solstice fire and ice party.

General

  • The pool is usually between 27 and 30 degrees.

  • Yes we do! But these can only be used during fun sessions. You are welcome to bring small inflatables, floats and toys with you, but please be guided by the instructions from our lifeguards.
