Pool Update – March 2026

Over the winter months, the Trustees have been working hard behind the scenes to secure the remaining funding needed to complete Phase 2 of the pool’s essential repairs. These significant improvements, first identified in 2023, will ensure the pool remains a safe, sustainable and much-loved facility for our community for many years to come.

This progress has only been possible thanks to the support of local businesses, organisations, Ashburton Town Council and the wider community. Although earlier fundraising fell short of the original pledges and the total needed, several new donations have recently brought us much closer to our goal. In particular, we would like to thank the Ashburton and Buckfastleigh League of Friends for their generous contribution.

We are also pleased to confirm that local Devon company Isca Pools has been appointed to carry out the specialist work, including the installation of a new pool liner. With these repairs underway, the Trustees are confident that the pool will reopen this season to celebrate its 90th anniversary!

We are hugely grateful for the patience, encouragement and generosity shown by our community while we worked to secure the funding needed to protect the future of the pool. The Trustees have always been mindful that the pool is a much-loved community asset, and we see ourselves as custodians of it for future generations. 

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back soon — whether you are visiting for the very first time, bringing your family, or returning to the pool where you learned to swim. It promises to be a very special season as we celebrate 90 years of Ashburton Swimming Pool together.

The Lifeguards have been amazing this year, the Volunteers have made a huge impact on what we have been able to achieve. Cat, our manager contributed a phenomenal amount to our community and the Trustees have worked exceptionally hard behind the scenes to keep the pool open and safe. This year has without doubt seen its challenges, so we have all been grateful for the positive messages and great feedback we get from our visitors. Thank you all.
