Temporary Closure Notice – SAFETY FIRST

The Trustees of Ashburton Swimming Pool regret to inform our valued users, supporters, funders and the wider community that the pool will temporarily close from the end of the day on Sunday 3rd August 2025 due to essential roadworks in the vicinity.

These works, which are outside our control, will severely restrict access for emergency vehicles. In line with our emergency protocol, and after consultation with Devon County Council Highways Agency and Wales and West, the company responsible for the roadworks, we cannot operate the pool safely without guaranteed emergency access. Therefore, we have no choice but to regetably close the pool for an unspecified period. We know this will be disappointing for regular swimmers, local families, visitors, and the many people who use and love our pool and the Trustees share that disappointment. We also recognise the impact the closure has on our manager, our lifeguards, and volunteers, whose hard work and commitment keeps the pool running.

Please rest assured that the pool will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. We will issue updates on our website, social media, and local noticeboards as we receive more information about the progress and completion date of the roadworks.

In the meantime please come along to the pool whilst we are still open. We need your support more than ever before.

We will be in touch with anyone who has bookings at the pool after the closure date to discuss options, via email as soon as we can. We thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support.
